well...we were framed for a crime we didn't commit, so we went on the run together...and one of our pursuers caught up with us. He really wasn't interested in taking us alive.

so, yeah. we spent weeks handcuffed to each other with the suicide squad after us, and that's how it ended.

[For...James, at least. Though the Suicide Squad wasn't involved in the rest of what happened to Piper, so that's not really a lie.]

it's not our favorite subject, but we've talked about it. at first i made him--i had to hear it from him. why he'd do that for me.

i'm not surprised that he'd think that. he says he doesn't remember being there after he died, though.
